Employment Discrimination

The Civil Rights Movement during the 1960’s paved the way to fair employment. The Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, has been a beacon in the fight of employment discrimination. Employers cannot discriminate against you based on an individual’s national origin, religion, gender, or race. Thus, making it illegal to fire, demote, harass or refuse to hire you based on it’s regulations.

Since Title VII, other laws have been enacted to deter other kinds of discrimination. Two examples are: The Age Discrimination Employment Act (ADEA) protects individuals who are over the age of 40, and The American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) allows individuals with disabilities to have reasonable accommodations so they can perform their job duties successfully.
